Kirkby Stephen is set in one of the most beautiful places in the entire UK. It offers so many attractions and its location in the Eden Valley, near the Lake District and next door to the Yorkshire Dales, allow it to draw on an unusually extensive range of sights and places to visit.
There is a friendly Tourist Information Centre in the town which gives out very helpful information, tailored to your particular requirements. Contact details are as below:

There are many lovely walks in Kirkby Stephen and the surrounding areas. Stenkrith Park is just a short walk away where from the Millennium Bridge you can experience the spectacular views of whirlpools and rapids below as the river passes through a rocky gorge. The footpath takes you onto a mile of disused railway path over several magnificent viaducts and back to Kirkby Stephen through the charming village of Hartley.
Visit the Pendragon Castle which was built in the late 12th century next to the River Eden in the beautiful valley of Mallerstang.
Enjoy a ride on a vintage bus to Hawes market which runs every Tuesday in summer months or visit the Wensleydale Creamery where you can watch cheese being made and sample some of the many varieties in their shop.
