The Coast to Coast Path
This famous path starts at St Bees next to the Irish Sea and runs across the country to Robin Hoods Bay in the east. It passes through some of the most beautiful countryside in England.
The Eden Valley Circular Cycle Route
Designed for you to cycle as much or as little as you wish and you can start and finish anywhere along the route.. The route makes use of mainly quiet country roads to link small villages, attractions and market towns. The cycle route is easy to access by train as it passes through Carlisle, Penrith, Appleby, Langwathby, Kirkby Stephen, and Brampton - all of which have rail stations.

Smardale
A stunning valley with a restored viaduct, beautiful beck and long abandoned mine workings.
This valley is within easy reach of Fletcher House and can be combined with some scenic fell walking too. It crosses the Coast to Coast path.

The Nine Standards Rig
The Nine Standards Rig can be seen on the skyline from Kirkby Stephen. This walk starts right from our front door.
Walney to Wear cycle route
Opened in June 2005, the Walney to Wear route is a 160 mile cycling adventure across the Lake District peninsulas, the North Pennines and the Land of the Prince Bishops. The route passes through Kirkby Stephen.
